Hi, I’m Beccy.

Portrait of the counsellor at Gentle Rebel Therapy in Oxfordshire.

I’m a person-centred counsellor based in Oxfordshire. My work is rooted in the belief that we all have an inner wisdom — a sense of who we are beneath the noise of expectations, labels, and survival patterns. Therapy, to me, is about creating the right conditions for that self to emerge and be heard.

Before training as a counsellor, I worked for many years as a company accountant. Over time, I found myself drawn less to numbers and more to people, to the stories behind the stress, the burnout, the quiet resilience. That pull led me to retrain in counselling, where I now bring together a grounded, practical understanding of life’s pressures with a deeply human, compassionate approach.

I offer a calm, non-judgemental space for anyone navigating trauma, neurodivergence, identity, or the feeling of being “too much” or “not enough.” I understand what it means to question who you are, to mask parts of yourself, and to long for authenticity. In our work together, you won’t be asked to fit in, you’ll be supported to come home to yourself.

I am a fully insured and registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), a professional body which ensures ethical practice.

My Approach

I believe counselling works best when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted as you are. My approach is person-centred , meaning I focus on building a relationship that feels safe enough for honest exploration; not fixing, analysing, or directing you.

Rather than telling you who you are or what you should do, I support you in discovering your own meanings, strengths, and ways forward. This can include exploring long-held beliefs about yourself, the effort it has taken to cope and get by, or the ways you may hide yourself to be accepted.

At your pace

There is no set agenda and no expectation to talk about anything before you are ready. We move at a pace that feels manageable, paying attention to what feels important in the moment.

Curiosity, not judgement

Many clients come with a history of being misunderstood or feeling “too much” or “not enough”. My role is to meet you with curiosity and compassion, helping you understand yourself rather than criticise yourself.
