Healing is a form of rebellion

Gentle Rebel Therapy offers a grounded, person-centred space for those who think and feel deeply. I work with trauma, neurodivergence, and identity; the places where people often feel they must hide or soften themselves to belong.

Therapy here isn’t about fitting in, it’s about coming home to yourself.

The Person at the Centre

Person-Centred Therapy

Person-centred therapy is a form of counselling that focuses on you as a whole person, rather than on an issue or a problem to fix.

At its core is the belief that people have an innate capacity to understand themselves and move towards growth when they are met with the right conditions. Therapy is not about being fixed or guided towards a particular outcome; it is about being understood.

Rather than directing the session, the counsellor offers a supportive and accepting relationship in which you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in your own way and at your own pace.

How Person-Centred Therapy Works

In person-centred therapy, the relationship itself is central.

Sessions are shaped by what feels most important for you to talk about. There is no set agenda, no expectation to focus on specific problems, and no pressure to reach conclusions. The work develops through conversation, reflection, and emotional exploration.

As your counsellor, I aim to offer:

  • Empathy; seeking to understand your experience from your point of view

  • Acceptance; a non-judgemental space where all parts of you are welcome

  • Authenticity; being real and present rather than distant or clinical

These conditions help create a space where it can feel safer to explore difficult emotions, past experiences, or aspects of yourself that may not have been fully acknowledged before.

What People Often Experience

Because person-centred therapy does not follow a set programme, the process is different for everyone. Change is often gradual rather than immediate.

People commonly describe developing a deeper understanding of themselves, feeling more emotionally grounded, and becoming more confident in their own thoughts, feelings, and decisions. Some notice shifts in how they relate to others, while others experience greater self-acceptance or clarity around what matters to them.

Rather than focusing on symptom reduction or quick solutions, person-centred therapy supports meaningful change by helping you reconnect with your own internal sense of direction.
